Day 5 Rain

This is becoming silly.

This day was absolutely beautiful. The wind wasn't real bad and the sun was shining and things were going great until I came to a town called Lavina. The highway I was on came to a Tee there and I wanted to go West. Well, to the West were the blackest clouds you have ever seen and I could see the rain coming down by the buckets off in the distance. Stood around there for a while until it started to rain there and then I took off to the East looking for the only motel within 50 miles.

In Lavina there were two things; a bar called the Cozy Corner Bar or some such name, and an old convenience store that had closed up but they still had the pumps running for credit cards 24 hours a day. They had diesel and 85.5 octane gasoline. I decided I didn't need gas that bad and moved on East.

I determined for a fact that all the bikers I saw the last couple of days were NOT coming from Canada. After I passed the Sturgis area I didn't see near as many on the highway. The only thing I can figure is they were all in the Badlands/Blackhills area. Turns out that draws a lot of riders who like the roads. Beats me why but it is one big tourist area.

The scenery from Buffalo to Billings was really something. Beautiful rolling hills and flowers, Really nice.

I saw antelope about 300 yards off the road. A lot of them. Then I saw antelope 100 yards off the road. Then I saw antelope 50 yards off the road. I decided that the ideal distance to see antelope from is around 300 yards. Yes, sir ree ! ! Saw a dead coyote on the road and one dead deer but no live critters really close to the road. That's exactly how I like my animals while riding the motorcycle. Not even close to the road.

I'm still struggling with my neck. When I arrived in Buffalo and got into the motel, I decided to go find some ibuprofen and just for kicks, I left my helmet at the motel. I know, I know, a person shouldn't ride without their helmet but I wanted to see how my neck felt without a helmet on. It didn't make a whole lot of difference. My neck still hurt. So it may be just the riding position related to my arms and shoulders. I'm still experimenting.

I took the ibuprofen today and it was much better. I took it not too long before I left the motel in Buffalo and it didn't kick in for an hour or so but then it's like I almost didn't have any pain. A vague sense of pain was there but not real pain. I think I'm on to something.

Tomorrow I attack the Kanuks. If they ask if I'm bringing any guns in, I'm going to tell them the Supreme Court just ruled that gun bans are unconstitutional ! ! ! See how they like that ! HA-HA-HA
